What savings can I make?
For longer journeys, and especially that are made during peak times, savings can be up to 50%. However, the cheapest way to buy tickets is still to buy in advance.
The Split Ticket Application
Split Ticket is a windows application you run directly from your machine, via this website. Select the train ticket you require, and follow the on-screen prompts.A table of results will appear as the tool works it's way through the permutations available for your journey, depicted below.
Once you've found the best deal, simply order your tickets through your local train operator, or via www.thetrainline.com.
The Split Ticket application requires a windows product, known as the ".Net Framework" to be installed (or you're looking at this using FireFox).
